Ogden Nature Center

The Ogden Nature Center is a 152-acre nature preserve and education center. The center provides award-winning nature education programs to over 50,000 annually, both onsite and offsite. We are open to the public for discovery and exploration. Visitors enjoy meeting birds of prey, snakes, tortoises, salamanders and other native animal species. Outside there are picnic areas, treehouses, bird blinds, a spotting tower and 1.5 miles of walking trails. The Nature Center boasts two of Utah's greenest buildings, with hands-on nature exhibits and a unique gift store.<br /><br />The Ogden Nature Center has volunteer opportunities for all ages and abilities. From helping maintain our trails and planting plants in our wildlife habitats to helping our events go smoothly, over 1,000 people volunteer at the Ogden Nature Center annually.<br /><br />Volunteers help with the care of our resident education animals, answer phones, greet visitors, garden, work on the grounds and help keep our green buildings maintained, assist our education staff with teaching environmental education and nature classes, work with kids in summer camps, and help plan and put on events. Volunteers also can get involved by representing the Nature Center at our PR booths at community events, taking photos, and assisting with clerical tasks like data entry. Some volunteers learn to handle our education animals and help with taking them out into the community for presentations on wildlife, conservation, ecology and other topics.
