4-H Iron County & Utah State University Extension

<br />The Iron County 4-H program is designed to support the positive and successful development of youth through the educational philosophy of Learn by Doing. Volunteers and staff experience the joy of sharing hands on activities with youth at community activities or in our afterschool settings. At the same time the youth are learning life, decision making and social skills and just having a great time with an adult and friends. Our ultimate goal is for youth to develop positive personal assets needed to live successfully and responsibly in a diverse and changing world. Having the children learn through play and fun aids their remembering what was taught. 4-H programs can complement in and out of school learning and development.<br /><br />Volunteers teach 4-H curriculum or a project of their choice to youth in the community or in our afterschool programs. Volunteers are trained in areas such as companion animals, arts and crafts, robotics, cooking, sewing, outdoor recreation and much more.
