Youthlinc has been serving in Cambodia since 2011, building strong, local partnerships that ensure meaningful, high-impact experiences for our teams.
Our key partner, Sustainable Cambodia, is a nonprofit based in Pursat dedicated to helping rural villages achieve sustainability through infrastructure support, education, and professional development.
Cambodia’s needs stem from its painful past. In the late 1970s, the Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot, carried out a devastating genocide, killing 1.5–3 million people—nearly a quarter of the population—and leaving the country in ruins. Despite this tragedy, the Cambodian people have shown incredible resilience, working tirelessly to rebuild.
Beyond service, Youthlinc teams experience Cambodia’s rich culture—exploring Angkor Wat, hiking to waterfalls, and shopping in vibrant local markets.

Leadership Development
-
Hands-on Leadership in Action – Our 9-month leadership development program mirrors the Girl Scouts' commitment to experiential learning by integrating a local service component. Volunteers develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a service mindset by leading real-world projects in their communities before engaging in global service.
-
Growth Through Service & Commitment – Like the Girl Scouts’ mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, Youthlinc focuses on transforming volunteers into lifetime humanitarians. Our program is not a “pay-and-go” experience but a journey of personal growth, responsibility, and leadership.
-
Proven Impact & Lifelong Skills – With 25 years of research-backed curriculum, Youthlinc fosters leadership skills that last a lifetime. Just as Girl Scouts cultivate resilience and a service-driven mindset, our program demonstrates measurable growth in volunteers and positive, sustainable change in global communities.
Community & Impact
-
Stronger Together: Building Teamwork & Friendships – Like Girl Scouts working together in troops, Youthlinc volunteers form deep connections with their teams for nine months before travel, learning to collaborate, communicate, and lead effectively—preparing them to make meaningful contributions both at home and abroad.
-
Sustainable & Meaningful Impact – Volunteers support Sustainable Cambodia, a Cambodian nonprofit dedicated to lasting change in rural villages. By partnering with local communities, we ensure our service aligns with real needs and long-term sustainability.
-
Diverse, Hands-on Service Projects – Youthlinc projects span community health, business & vocational skills, ecological improvements, construction, cultural exchange, and education—reflecting the Girl Scouts’ value of using skills to better the world.
