The Young Humanitarian Award 2009-2010
An award that celebrates outstanding humanitarian service among Utah's youth!
Though our society recognizes young people for their accomplishments in sports and academics, this is an award that celebrates outstanding humanitarian service among youth.
Many thanks to Chase, Deseret News and XMission for partnering with YouthLINC to provide this annual $5,000 scholarship which recognizes Utah high school and undergraduate college or university students who excel in their efforts to give back to their communities. Four “runners-up” will receive $1000 awards to be used for the same purpose.
The Application
All applications must be received, not postmarked, by Saturday March 7, 2009.

Award Guidelines
The following are general guidelines:
- Applicants must be students who are Utah residents, American citizens, enrolled in Utah high schools or enrolled in undergraduate college or university programs in the state of Utah.
- Applicants will be judged on quality of essays and letters of recommendation--and of utmost importance--evidence of sustained, focused service efforts on behalf of genuinely needy individuals or communities.
- The top ten finalists must interview with the Scholarship Selection Committee on Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Salt Lake City. If an applicant cannot attend, he or she can not be considered for the Award and another candidate will be selected.
- The top five finalists and their parents are invited as our guests to attend the YouthLINC Tenth Anniversary Celebratory Gala at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, where Utah's Young Humanitarian 2009 will be announced.
