On your mark, get set, GO! Youthlinc General Orientation Nov. 9th

We are getting pumped for our upcoming KICK OFF to Youthlinc’s 2013-2014 Service Year!

General Orientation will be Saturday, November 9th, from 12:30-5pm at the University of Utah’s Orso_MG_9937Youthlincn Spencer Hall (OSH), concurrent with the UofU’s 2pm football game.  To get to this critical meeting on time, we strongly recommend planning ahead, giving yourself plenty of time to get on campus, packing a lunch, parking elsewhere and taking TraxParking will cost $5/car on campus.  Click here for driving instructions, and a map.

General Orientation is a mandatory meeting for all students (and parents of minors), Alum Leaders and Mentors accepted into our Service Year.  If there are catastrophic reasons why you cannot attend, you must send a representative. Failure to do so may result in program dismissal.   Students on the waiting list should attend, as we select from these individuals when an accepted participant does not attend General Orientation or drops the program.

Here’s the scoop on what will be covered at General Orientation:

  • Students: at 12:30pm, check in with your Assistant Team Leaders (ATL) in your team’s assigned room (Room 233: Cambodia | Room 231: Guatemala | Room 234: Kenya | Room 232: Peru Room 132: Thailand-June | Room 133: Thailand-July | Room 235: Vietnam).  This meetiIMG_9852Youthlincng will focus on the local service you will contribute as part of your Service Year. Your ATL will help you navigate our online Local Service Directory, and you’ll have an opportunity to brainstorm service sites with teammates.
  • Mentors & Alum Leaders: at 12:30pm, check-in in room #175 (bottom floor, southwest side of the building). This session will cover your role and responsibilities in regards to our team’s committee work. Please review the brief Mentor and Alum Leader Manual beforehand.
  • Parents: at 12:30pm, check-in in the main auditorium on the northeast side of the building, 2nd floor.  Executive Director Judy Zone and past Youthlinc parents will cover information specific for you, and answer your questions.
  • Everyone:  At 2:00pm, we will meet in the main auditorium on the northeast side of the building for the General Orientation session.  Afterward, teams will break into assigned rooms to review our team’s international service tentative itinerary, plans, and activities.  (Room 233: Cambodia | Room 231: Guatemala | Room 234: Kenya | Room 232: Peru Room 132: Thailand-June | Room 133: Thailand-July | Room 235: Vietnam).

See you there!
