As Humanitarians, we have the ability to directly impact our communities and promote human welfare. The Environment includes land, water, air and ALL living things, including people, this means that care of the environment is an integral part of human welfare. Simply put, in order to take care of people we also need to take care of the environment. Without clean water, healthy ecosystems, and fresh air, we would fail to thrive. Protecting the environment and making changes in our daily lives can start small and still help to make a significant difference. 

We live in a unique location that allows us to explore and appreciate the environment and being outdoors. Sometimes we are so eager to leave, that we forget that many people travel from around the world to spend time in our own nearby parks. This Summer, Join Youthlinc and the USDA Forest Service on our inaugural Conservation Camping trip in the Uintah-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and learn more about what you can do to make a difference right here at home. 

Whether you are a first-time camper or an experienced backpacker this trip is for you! We will spend 5 days and 4 nights at Lost Creek Campground (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway), learning about local conservation efforts and how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. We will spend 3 days helping the USDA Forest Service on projects including trail work and repair, burnout preparation, removal of invasive species, and habitat reporting. In addition to these projects, we will also join Wild Utah Project as “citizen scientists” to help track and detect the presence of plants and pollinators, such as bees, monarch butterflies, and milkweed. After working hard, we will also play hard and take time to enjoy hiking, paddleboards, kayaking, fishing, and swimming at Lost Lake.
