Our Partners
"Since my YouthLINC experience, my love and dedication for service have grown so much. Sponsors need to know the investment they are making."
--Hayley Paul, Mexico 2006
YouthLINC is a 501(c)3 not-for profit organization which partners with Utah and International Rotary Clubs, businesses, professional associations, individual humanitarians, and universities and colleges, interested in investing in the service ethic of Utah's young people.
This service sponsorship/leadership program provides students with the incentive and opportunity to help their local communities in order to earn financial support to serve disadvantaged individuals in a developing nation.
Almost every Rotary club in the State of Utah has sponsored student participants or provided project funds at one of our international sites. Students sponsored by Rotary clubs sign a Statement of Intent that they will join or form Interact or Rotaract clubs (secondary or college Rotary clubs). Our program fits well with the goals of youth, vocational, local, and international service that are an integral part of Rotary International.
"I am most impressed with the relationship between YouthLINC and Rotary. It was great to experience to see an International Rotary club in action. I could see that the student participants understood the purpose of Rotary. Everyone was willing to help and to serve."
-- Shelly Dansie, Cedar City Rotarian, 2005 Mexico participant
YouthLINC Mexico is a course at the University of Utah for special education, physical and occupational therapy students. Several other departments and colleges of the U of U support student involvement in our program, especially the School of Nursing and the LEAP program for ethnically diverse and economically disadvantaged students seeking health professions.
"Encouraging students who are entering the profession of physical therapy to pursue a lifelong commitment to service is an easy decision, even in tough economic times. Both our membership and leadership agree that YouthLINC is a unique program which enhances the education of future professionals by providing them with real life challenges and rewards. Providing financial assistance through YouthLINC sponsorships has been a sound investment for the Utah Chapter of Physical Therapy Association. We believe that as a service profession, anything we can do to encourage young therapists to make a commitment to serve will positively influence their professional and personal lives."
--Robin Marcus, Assistant Professor, Division of Physical Therapy, University of Utah
Utah State University and Westminster College, as educational institutions, support student involvement in our program. Each year, the Utah Physical Therapy Association sponsors students into our Mexico program.
Chase has consistently supported our Young Humanitarian Award program, honoring Utah's most outstanding Young Humanitarian, with a $5000 college scholarship. They have also supported our Local Service Directory, a print and on-line publication of Utah service sites where our student participants have reported positive encouraging mentorship and hands-on volunteer opportunities. We are also proud to partner with the Utah Office of Education to distribute our Local Service Directory to every secondary school and college in the State of Utah.
