Volunteer Help in Northern Utah

Hello Volunteers! The Family Place is looking for some help at their Hyrum building as soon as possible. They need a couple of volunteers to sweep the gutters, rake leaves, and pick up trash. This can be done anytime Mon-Fri from 11am-7pm. The Family Place also has a bike rack that needs to be built at their Logan building. This can be done anytime! Contact Michelle Hyde to help! Ski & Snowboard Peer Partner

Join us on the slopes this winter and engage with a participant around your age who is learning to ski and/or snowboard with a different ability (physical, cognitive, intellectual). Opportunities are available Friday PM, Saturday AM & PM and Sunday AM & PM. It is a great opportunity to combine your love of winter sports and helping a participant get out on the snow and learn new skills and have a great time. 8th Annual Community Christmas

Community Christmas is a benefit event coordinated by the Ogden-Weber Community Action Partnership (OWCAP). The event is scheduled for December 16th and will support an anticipated 2000 children in the Weber and Northern Davis County areas. The event includes a Christmas carnival area with activity booths for the children; “North Pole” with Santa; photo area with professional photographers providing a free 8 x 10 family portrait; and a shopping area where parents can select new and used clothing items and toys for each of their children, as well as grocery and household items. English Tutor for Adult Students

We have adult students from the world over learning English who would like a little one-on-one tutoring to help them advance quicker. Days and times depend on their schedule and yours, but would be between Mon.-Thu., 9am-3pm. You would need to commit to at least one hour/week. Our volunteer application is attached.

Police and Youth Town Hall Meeting

The Police Training Institute (PTI), a program of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, is working with the Salt Lake City Police Department, Salt Lake City area community groups and young people in the Salt Lake City community to help “bridge the gap” between law enforcement and the communities they serve. PTI is hosting a Town Hall meeting to learn from community leaders, young members of the community and law enforcement. One of the goals of the town hall is provide a safe and open environment to openly communicate with all people on current issues and how to make the community a better place. Information from this Town Hall meeting will be used to assist the PTI team in preparing program materials for Salt Lake City Police Department and youth community members. A meal will be provided for all registered participants.
