Easter Seals Volunteers

Posted April 20, 2018
Starting June 7th we will need 2-3 volunteers for our Leonardo site. This will be every Thursday for three hours for 9 weeks, and we need the volunteers to commit to all 9 weeks. The time will be 11:00-2:00. Volunteers will need to fill out an application and meet for a quick interview/orientation, which will be held at our Sandy office. Volunteers will be mentoring teens and young adults with high functioning autism. They will be responsible for supporting the student they are paired with in goals that focus on social and work skills, as well as helping guests at the Leo with hands-on activities. They must model appropriate behavior and can NOT be on their phones while volunteering. The Leonardo is a really fun museum and so is the volunteer position, we just need to make sure that they are mature enough to mentor. Ideal volunteers are interested in the following: - disabilities - mentoring - at risk youth - teaching - autism - working with young adults - behavioral intervention - goal setting - social skills If interested, contact Madison Pope (208) 340-9322 or madisong@esgw.org

STEM cell volunteers

Posted April 4, 2018
Promise SSL needs volunteers on Friday, April 13th from 1:30 to 4:30 to help with our annual K-6th science, technology, engineering & math (STEM) Festival! Individuals do not need any special STEM skills or knowledge as we will teach you the ins and outs of the activities. With that said, you will be running an activity station for rotating groups of children who are of elementary school age in the Promise program. Additionally, all of the youth will have their after-school group leaders with them to manage behavior and excitement levels which will afford you the opportunity to simply lead the fun and informative activity! We would like to have a short training and briefing session the Friday evening before the festival, April 6th, to fully prepare you for the fun and exciting afternoon the following week. Please consider participating in this fun and heart-warming event on April 13th from 1:30-4:30 pm. If you are interested, please send your name and cell phone number to Promise SSL STEM Coordinator, Max Harrison >mharrison@sslc.com < as soon as possible and cc promise.volunteer@sslc.com. The event will be located at the Sugar Space Arts Warehouse 132 S 800 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84104 Please arrive by 1:30 pm. Please park on the east side of the building around the loop.
