Service Year Students and Mentors

Service Year applications for students (secondary, college, graduate school),  alum leaders (returning alums with leadership roles on team committees), and mentors (adult professionals) are updated in August of each year and deadline for application is generally in mid-October.

Service Year Team and Assistant Team Leader applications are updated each August and the deadline for these applications is generally mid-August. Mentors or students who are alums of the Service Year are preferred for these positions.

All accepted participants and parents of students under 18 must attend General Orientation held in Salt Lake City on the second Saturday in November of each Service Year.

Please email, scan to office@youthlinc.org, fax 801-467-1982 or mail all documents to 1140 E. Brickyard Road Suite 76, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106. Be sure to obtain the appropriate materials and signatures!

ALL DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED IN YOUR APPLICATION.

New Youthlinc students choose their local main service sites, where they can become relied-upon volunteers during their Service Year, contributing minimally 80 hours during the school year.  We require our student participants to do hands-on service with genuinely needy individuals or communities.

Service Year students and mentors also attend monthly meetings where they prepare for the international experience. Students take leadership roles in planning the activities in-country, mentored by the adult professionals and student leaders on each team.

After fulfilling local service requirements, Youthlinc students take their commitment to another level by participating in a two-week experience in a developing country.

Youthlinc currently has six sites for international service: CambodiaKenyaGuatemalaPeru, Nepal and Thailand.

Young Humanitarian Award

Applications for our Young Humanitarian Award are available each January with March deadlines dates. Utah secondary or undergraduate college students are honored each year with college scholarships in recognition of outstanding service to their communities.
