ALUMNI

Once you have completed your Service Year, whether you are a student or a mentor or a parent, you are a Youthlinc Alum! Our Alums are our greatest volunteer resource to us – allowing Youthlinc to do so much with so little overhead.

Our alums are also an invaluable resource to their communities.

We are proud that, in our alumni surveys which we undertake every few years, between 60-93% of our alums continue to serve regularly in their communities. In our annual surveys of our incoming students, only between 5-20% volunteer regularly. That’s a huge jump in young people realizing they have the responsibility and the leadership ability to make a difference for others. Those results are why we can unabashedly say that this program works to create lifetime humanitarians.

We are also proud that so many of our alumni go into service professions. We attribute their direction to fields where people help people to the mentors who guide our students in our monthly planning meetings and work alongside them at our international sites. These selfless individuals are role models of service.

We also want to thank the parents of our alums, who volunteer in our office, help with our Annual Benefit, and continue to sponsor students into the Youthlinc program – paying forward the sponsorship that their son or daughter received upon acceptance into the Service Year. We have heard so many parents say that the service ethic, developed through our Service Year in their child, spread through their family. Service has become a family tradition for so many Youthlinc alums.
